Just getting started? Check out the easy steps below...
Step 1: Read the scripture
The scripture is located on the right hand side of every Verse page and Weekly Reading.
Step 2: Listen to the song
Listen to the song. It will be located on the right hand side of every Verse page and Weekly Reading. Make a goal of listening to the song frequently – every day is ideal to truly commit the words to memory. Even better, sing along!
Step 3 - Read the weekly reading
Read the weekly reading. There are a total of five readings for every scripture passage. So, before you start, you’ll need to decide whether you want to memorize and learn 12 scriptures in 12 months time, or memorize and learn 12 scriptures in 12 weeks. The choice is yours.
Here’s how each program works:
- The 12 month/Year-long program – If you want to memorize and learn 12 scriptures in 1 year, then follow this plan by reading one reading per week. Week 5 will be for those months that contain five weeks. Pretty simple, huh? Just don’t forget to listen to that month’s scripture song on a regular (ideally, daily) basis, and definitely every time you read a weekly reading. Also, if you are going through this program with a group, take the time to discuss the discussion question at the end of every reading. If you are going it alone, journal your answer. In either case, let the pen or the group discussion flow. The discussion question is simply a prompt to help you push off into a greater depth of understanding, so feel free to meander, ponder and explore in thought and word!
- The 12 Week program – If you want to take the fast track and memorize and learn one verse per week for a total of 12 weeks, then you will read one reading for 5 days out of the week. If you are doing this with a group, then again, be sure to answer and discuss the discussion question located at the end of each reading, letting the conversation flow wherever it goes. If you are on your own, journal your answer and be sure to let your pen wander.
Step 4: Check out the extras!
- Meditate on the scripture. Listen to a calming and tranquil version of the scripture, which is read aloud multiple times over soothing music. Close your eyes and fully focus on the words, letting their truth and goodness penetrate your soul. There’s no special trick to this. Simply focus your mind the best you can, on the words and the goodness of God as you listen.
- Print it out, baby! Print out a complimentary, artistic version of the scripture and frame it, use it as a bookmark, put it on your fridge – whatever works for you to read and enjoy on a regular basis. The printable version of the verse is located on the right hand side of each verse page and weekly reading.
